In consultation with the US organisation Muslims Without Borders-Dental Relief; Uplift Kashmir is organizing a massive dental assessment and treatment program between 5 to 6 working days in Kashmir. These clinics will take place between the 7th to 16th of September. We envisage some 7 local dentists volunteering their time in conjunction with 8 visiting dentists making an active workforce of almost 15 dentists.
To help us manage this program, the Ministry of Heath has kindly let us use their regional health centers. We envisage these day treatment centers being at Gurez, Tangdhar, Pulwama, Kangan and possibly 1 to 2 clinics in Srinagar. Maybe one of these will be held at the female orphanage ( similar to the ones organised jointly by the India Dental Association Srinagar Branch and our team a few days ago)
Obviously this is the biggest series of events that Uplift Kashmir has organised to date. As such we still have a lot of organizing to do in order to gain the maximum treatment benefits from all the Dentists participating. To this end, we will be counting on support from our members,well-wishers and the various health departments. In particular, we will need at least 8 treatment facilities so that Dentists can carry out the necessary treatments. What this in fact means is that we will need dental chairs, dental drills, compressors for the drills, possibly a portable x-ray machine and operator, surgical and hygiene equipment as well as some help in transport and setting up each clinic.
We believe that this could be an excellent recipe which can be repeated from time to time and possibly extended to other medical activities with the continued support of our members and the Health department.
As this is our first major set of field day operations we really need feedback from our members and their enthusiasm if this is to be successful.
